Medway Community Safety Officers at Medway Ghanaian Association Family Event

On Saturday 18 July 2026, officers from Medway Community Safety Unit attended the Medway Ghanaian Association's Annual Republic Day Family Fun Event at Rainham Recreation Ground.

The event brought together families, community leaders, local organisations, elected representatives, and emergency service partners for an afternoon of celebration, sport, and community wellbeing. Throughout the day, officers engaged with attendees, provided crime prevention advice, promoted My Community Voice, and supported Kent Police's current recruitment drive.

Events such as these provide valuable opportunities to build trust, strengthen relationships, and better understand the experiences of the diverse communities we serve. As part of Kent Police's Police Race Action Plan (PRAP), we are committed to actively engaging with people from different ethnic backgrounds, listening to their views, and creating meaningful conversations that help improve confidence in policing.

The positive engagement throughout the day enabled officers to connect with residents in an informal setting, discuss local concerns, answer questions about policing, and highlight the wide range of career opportunities available within Kent Police.
